Last nights lesson, Dumping Debt, was a blast. Congratulations to all that took the step of cutting up your credit cards. This is a HUGE deal, way to go. One of our class mates suggested this was representative of placing trust in God vs a Credit Card company. I agree with him. If you considered a "plasectomy" but were not quite ready that is ok. Consider cutting it up privately if the group thing is not your deal or I'd love to celebrate you cutting it up in one of the remaining classes. Here is a fun plasectomy video I found on the internet for some inspiration, these guys went all out!
Credit cards and casinos are both rigged games in which we are the ones that lose. (regardless of rewards points or miles) Don't play their game. You should be developing your Debt Snowballs and discussing it with your spouse and or accountability partner. Work your budget to direct all non-essential money at your Debt Snowball & as Dave said last night BUST IT. Check out the bonus lesson, Credit Sharks in Suits, online. It's available in FPU Central here is a link - FPU Central.
At Dave Ramsey's offices in Brentwood there are Mozaics of credit card art throughout the offices. That might be a fun family project. If you need any cut up cards let me know. Below is a cool one I found.
Please consider using the Opt Out Prescreen service to remove your self from pre-screened solicitations of credit originating from use of your credit profile. With the government shutdown the site is not available but make a note to do this once the government comes back and is borrowing money again. My wife and I did this many years ago and receive almost no offers of credit anymore. Here is the link Optoutprescreen
A point of clarification from last nights questions. There was a question regarding old Credit Cards with a Parent showing up on your personal credit report. A class member more familiar that I told me after class if the card is on your credit report your a "joint owner" of the card and responsible for charges. He indicated an "authorized user" would not show up on your credit report and your not liable for charges. You do want to track it down and get it closed.
